The Gilbert Agricultural & Rural Development (GARD) Center
A leading training facility for youth and women in Antigua & Barbuda, providing positive entrepreneurial and employment opportunities.
Established in 1989 initially to train young people in practical agriculture, the GARD mission has evolved along with changing social trends, to target and improve the overall welfare and standard of living for youths, and unemployed, or underemployed women. GARD offers life skills development, general training, and industry exposure for these lower income communities through special hands-on projects.
JBF Recent projects: – Jumby Bay Fund along with other local partners donated materials and volunteered skills training to engage with GARD center staff and trainees in a building exercise to develop a sheltered bus stop. The building course included laying a foundation, plastering and finishing walls, and developing a proper roof.
